Beginning our project

We're starting a project - a huge, ambitious, exciting project - to look at our family tree alongside some major historical events and make a big scrapbook about all our findings. I've already researched a bit of my tree on my dad's side, and my mum (and her dad) has done a lot of her side, and we want to see what we can find out and how it all comes to life when we connect it to real past events.

We'll use this blog for notes, records and thoughts and we'll create the scrapbook when we have more information - I think we'll start with a page or two about us and then go backwards chronologically. Chloe was sent this document by my Grandad - her Great-Grandad - and it shows four generations of his ancestors, back to 1776 along one branch!

I hope we can make some trips to interesting museums or records offices to research this, along with the key events that we choose, which will give us an interesting perspective on historical research. Luckily I had the foresight to marry a history teacher, which will be very useful indeed!
